Need Motivation To Try Yoga? Look To These Celebrities At The Top Of Their Fields

A couple years back, we looked at “3 Steps To Finding Motivation To Workout”, focusing on monitoring energy, building energy, and avoiding guilt. To be sure, these kinds of internal practices are vital if you’re to find motivation and start a routine. At the same time however, a bit of external motivation can help also –– and for a lot of people, that means following the leads of celebrities.

Case in point, surveys posted at Daily Waffle showed that a number of celebrities known for their fitness get searched alongside terms like “exercise” thousands of times each month. Chris Hemsworth and Dwayne Johnson lead with 12,000-plus searches each, but the likes of Henry Cavill, Kendall Jenner, Brie Larson, and others inspire thousands of queries too.

This indicates quite clearly that lots of people are still turning to celebrities for workout inspiration –– and why not? These famous figures are often some of the fittest people on the planet! Expanding on this concept though, we feel it might be particularly helpful to follow certain celebrities with regard to yoga. For one thing, different celebrities do it in entirely different ways. Furthermore, a lot of people who may be looking to get into yoga for the first time might not know where to start without a bit of inspiration.

With that in mind, here’s our look at some ultra-successful celebrities who practice yoga regularly.

Jennifer Aniston

Jennifer Aniston is one of the most successful actresses of her generation. As the co-lead on Friends she was arguably the biggest star on TV, and more recently she was picked to headline the de facto flagship drama for Apple TV+. Alongside her astounding success on camera though, Aniston has also maintained status as something of a fitness icon –– maintaining a consistently youthful tone. Aniston has attributed her fitness to meditation and intermittent fasting, but also claims to combine yoga with high-intensity workouts. Every morning, she does spinning for 30 minutes and then yoga for 40.

David Beckham

David Beckham is a fascinating case. On the one hand, he's a general celebrity –– a model and spokesperson famous for his image. On the other hand, he’s a pure footballer. He was a star in his day and has since filled much of his time supporting the growth of the Inter Miami club –– with a report at ESPN.com last year noting that he had in fact increased his ownership stake in the club. Both of these dual lives however –– the general celebrity and the football icon –– dictate that Beckham maintain fitness. And sure enough, he turns to yoga to do so. He’s been at it for years, and his personal yoga trainer has recommended that those who are interested follow suit by starting with two simple poses: the ragdoll, and balance on one leg.

Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga hardly requires an introduction. Among our biggest modern pop stars and now a successful film actress as well, she is quite possibly one of the most famous people on the planet. Somewhat lost in her loud image and raw talent however is that Gaga is almost always in excellent shape. By all accounts this is due to a whole array of workouts, but the pop star has occasionally shared her Pilates and yoga routines on social media. On the yoga front, she appears to buy into a comprehensive routine, practicing everything from warm-up stretches to handstands.

Daniel Negreanu

Professional poker players may not be athletes in the traditional sense. But Daniel Negreanu –– one of the biggest names in the game –– does seem at times like an example of athletic endurance. Per a Poker.org write-up on Daniel Negreanu, the Canadian card maestro moved to Las Vegas to pursue poker in his early 20s, and has since been racking up millions for 20-plus years as a professional. Furthermore, he’s nowhere near done yet –– only 48 years old and as busy as ever on the poker circuit. Staying at the top of virtually any field for that long requires good health and endurance though, and we know that Negreanu has long trusted yoga to keep him in good shape. He attends classes, and also likes to pair the exercise with meditation.

Maria Sharapova

Finally there’s Maria Sharapova –– one of the great tennis pros of the last 25 years, and someone who’s long been open about how she’s benefited from yoga. A five-time major champion, Sharapova was known as a particularly fit player who could usually outlast her opponents. In part, this likely stems from the regularity and intensity of her exercise routines. According to The Guardian, Sharapova has done hot yoga since the age of 15, and credits this with her “between point calmness.”

Ultimately, you can always get into yoga your own way. Even so, we hope these celebrities and their routines have inspired you!
