Lockdown resources to help you prepare for Lockdown 2.0

Lockdown 2.0 is about to begin and, for a lot of us, this announcement carries with it a lot of anxiety and heaviness. Make no mistake, feeling stuck in your home, uncertain of the future and disconnected from the world is a difficult place to be. So today I want to share a few tools and lockdown resources to help you care for your physical, mental and emotional wellbeing during another tumultuous season of 2020.

Lockdown prep work and resources

  1. Set yourself a project or goal

Having something to focus on that is unrelated to work, house work and separate from your family life will do so much for caring for your mental health in the coming weeks. This should be something that’s just for you, that brings you joy and will help you feel a sense of achievement when you complete it at the end of the month. Some ideas are, starting a vegetable patch in your garden, e-learning: enrol in an online course in a topic you’d like to learn more about, tidy up your diet and create a meal plan (become a master chef!) or join a workout program with a clear end goal.

  2. Fill up your reading list

At the start of the year I put together this reading list, and if you’ve yet to work your way through it then do so now - get your kindle or your bookshelf filled to the brim ready for a deep dive into another world whenever you feel the need.

  3. Keep active

During the April 2020 lockdown there was a noted decrease in activity and health across the nation. Don’t join that statistic. Set up an unshakeable workout routine to make sure you’re staying active. You might be tempted to simply scroll through YouTube videos, but I urge you to put your money where your mouth is and invest your hard-earned cash into a paid program. When you pay for something you’re much more likely to stick to your guns and get it done! Your body and your mind will thank you for this. I’ve linked all my courses at the bottom of this article.

  4. Stay connected

Make a point of having zoom chats with your family and friends and do it often. Human connection plays a pivotal role in our long term mental and emotional health.

  5. Take up meditation

I can’t even begin to tell you what a grounding and powerful practice meditation can be. If you aren’t sure where to start I have linked a few guided meditations at the bottom of this article. You can also join me every Sunday morning at 10AM for Meditation & Restoration on Zoom.

LOCKDOWN READY!

In times of uncertainty, setting goals, intentions and inviting structure to each day can be a great tool to help ground you. With this in mind I’m offering a 25% discount on all online courses until 9th November with the code LOCKDOWN2.

Finding opportunity in uncertainty

One of the greatest lessons that came out of the April 2020 lockdown for me was that even the most difficult and challenging of circumstances can become an opportunity when you look at it in a different way.

I hope you’ll use this season to stay kind to yourself and to others and to find a way to embrace this challenge and change with an open heart.
