5 things I'm looking forward to on our Scotland Yoga Retreat
I can’t believe we are going to Scotland! Really, I have to pinch myself every time the thought comes back to me. I fell in love with the highlands when I first visited in 2004 and have returned every year, even choosing to get married and “familymoon” up here. In fact it was on this familymoon that I discovered Ardtornish Estate. I stood in the vast ballroom and looked at my husband and said, “Imagine doing yoga here!” Guess what, now we’re going to!
1. Our stunning accommodation!
Ardtornish house overlooks Loch Aline and is decorated in traditional highland decor, which means it’s full to bursting with highland character! It’s going to be just as wonderful relaxing in the South Wing living room as it is going to be exploring the gardens, surrounding hills and lochs.
2. Exploring the Treshnish Isles.
I’ve visited this area at least five times before and have yet to jump on a boat and explore the Treshnish Isles, which is strange considering how much I reeeeeaally want to see puffins!! One of the highlights of our Greece retreat was hiring a private boat for the day to explore nearby islands, and I plan to do the same on this retreat. I found this great blog post all about the Treshnish Isles to give you an idea of what a treat we are in for!
3. Reconnecting with Wild Retreaters.
I honestly LOVE my Wild Retreat fam. There is always such a great mix of familiar and new faces and we ultimately always find ourselves chatting away over a glass of wine, loosing track of time and talking about everything and nothing. These are the best kind of people; the easy going, laugh-out-loud and love-big people and I can’t wait to hang with them all again!
4. The Yoga.
This is will be my fifth retreat, and I have truly begun to hone in on what works, what doesn’t and how to deliver each class to the huge range of people in the room and work with everyone’s individual energy. Having this confidence in my methodology and the structure of my classes on retreats means I can start to relax and enjoy the process more.
5. Being back in the wild
I have told people to take a full day to drive to our retreat location, because the drive alone is staggeringly beautiful. Scenes passing through Loch Lomond and Glencoe alone will take your breath away! Then you can drive your boat onto a ferry and cross to Mull to explore ancient castles and the adorable seaside town of Tobermory. We are surrounded by water so there absolutely be a bit of wild swimming, some kayaking and for those who prefer to keep their feet on dry ground you can wander along the loch to Ardtornish castle for stunning views across the ocean and surrounding hills.
I absolutely CANNOT wait! This retreat is fully booked, but be sure to email me and waitlist yourself for it incase of any cancellations. You can also sign up to the Wild Retreats mailing list by request where you get 2 - 4 weeks of exclusive access to all new retreats so that you can book the best rooms for the best prices!
